After having worked in surgery and intensive care for a number of years, Erwin decided to focus on combining his interest in innovation and digitalization and his medical background. Subsequently, he broadened his horizon with an executive MBA at a globally recognized school. This step enabled him to develop his career in commercial organizations in pharma and medical nutrition.
In 2012, Erwin moved to Berlin to help a highly innovative liver diagnostic startup to bring the academic concept to a commercially viable product. This company, Humedics GmbH, enabled him to bring his experience and interests together since it combined an unmet medical need, a medical device and a pharmaceutical diagnostic drug. Erwin developed the strategy, the razor/razorblade business model and was able to gain the interest of large multinationals.
